Wood Vista Cottages


Tungesh (Cheog) District Shimla located at a distance of about 30 kms from Shimla was established with the blessings of Shri Avinashwaranand Ji Maharaj in the year 1972 which is existing at its present location on the persistent appearls of his dedicated disciples.
To reach Tungesh there is a hiking trail which takes approximately 2 hours from WoodVista Cottages to reach the top. The hiking trail goes from deep woods to the top where you can find an ashram, a temple and a very old Sanskrit University. Hikers can spnd their time at the view point which offers a scenic view and a very quiet environment.


JangalKanag is a small Village/hamlet in Theog Tehsil in Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh State, India. It comes under JangalKanag Panchayath. It is located 27 KM towards East from District headquarters Shimla. At the top of the jungle there is a beautiful meadow and a small temple of “KANAG DEVI” .
From the top you get a 360degree view of the nearby mountains.The place is very very quiet and isolated from daily hustle and bustle.Hiking starts from a small town named Sandhu. The trail is safe and takes you through a jungle to the top. It takes approximately 2 hours to reach the destination from Wood Vista Cottages.

Deshu Mata Temple

Shri Deshu Mata Temple is in Kufri and it is on 3300 metres above the sea level. The road to Deshumata temple is bifurcated from kufri on the way to Fagu. And its approx. 1 KM long very steep ascent road, then there are 400 stairs to cover to reach the temple. Its full of Deodar and spruce trees and gives the much relaxed view to the devotees.
To reach Deshu Mata Temple it takes approximately 1:30 hours from Wood Vista Cottages.

Hatu Peak (Narkanda)

Hatu peak is located in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, India at an elevation of 3400 m (11,152 ft) above sea level. The peak is surrounded by dense forest of conifers, oaks and maples.
Hatu Peak lies on the Shimla-Rampur Highway nearly 50 km from Shimla. The roads are in good condition until Narkanda which is nearly 8 km from the peak. From here you can either trek for 8 km or go by bike or car. At the top of the peak is a small wooden temple called Hatu temple. According to local belief the famous Hatu Mata temple is the temple of Maa Kaali.

Jau Bag (Narkanda)

The enigmatic lush meadows of Jau Bag is a sight to behold. A furthermore walk of around 30 minutes from HatuPeak wide opens this valley of meadows where you would simply want to roll down and click some crazy landscape snaps. JauBaug is also shrouded in the historical saga of Pandavas during Vanya-Prastha.
The green meadows make for an ideal trekking spot. It is one of the many places to visit in Narkanda for photography and nature walks.

Tani Jubbar Lake (Narkanda)

At a distance of 60 km from Wood Vista CottagesTaniJubbar Lake is a beautiful lake located at TaniJubbar near Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh. Enclosed by a thick forest of cedar trees, TaniJubbar Lake is a small oval-shaped artificial water fed lake. The shallow water body is encircled by a paved pathway, flanked by gentle slopes, covered with pine and spruce trees. There is a small temple dedicated to 'Nag Devta', the God of Snakes, on the banks of the lake.
The lake is a perfect place where one can lay back, relax and enjoy the weather, surroundings and the charming lake. The dramatic foliage encircling the lake enables an abundance of opportunities for nature photographers and peace-seekers.

Paragliding (Junga)

This activity takes place in Village Mohal of Junga ,Shimla , Himachal Pradesh. This place is 33 km from Wood Vista Cottages. Paragliding is done under the guidance of professional gliders. As you take off, you have a breath-taking aerial view of Shimla, thick Cedar forests, mountain peaks dotted with villages and temples.
Though Paragliding is an extreme sport yet can be made safe by strictly following the prescribed safeguards and safety standards. Experienced pilots using quality equipment and flying in the right wind conditions will always land you safely.

River Rafting (Chaba to Tattapani)

To experience the adrenaline rush and the excitement of River Rafting in Shimla, one needs to reach Chaba which is a small, exotic and outlandish village at a distance of about 60 km from Wood Vista Cottages. Chaba is also famous for a venerable hydropower project which is more than 100 years old and is situated on the banks of Nauti River, a tributary of Satluj River.
The 15 km river rafting stretch starts from Chaba and ends at Tattapani village which is famous for its hot sulphur springs. Though the glory of Tattapani as a tourist destination has been lost because of the submergence of sulphur springs in the Kol Dam hydropower project, it is still famous for river rafting.


Situated near the Himalayan range, Kufri is a picturesque hill station situated 10 km from our Wood Vista Cottages. Kufri is a very famous tourist spot for tourists coming to Shimla.
It offers views of high snow capped mountains with a wide range of Flora and Fauna. The best things to do in Kufri are Ski, Horse riding, Yak riding and many mote adventure activities.
The place is best for people who like being exposed to the outdoor activities and who like to feel the thrill of adventure .

Shimla is around 25 Km from our Wood Vista Cottages. Some of the famous places to visit in Shimla are The Ridge, The Mall Road, Advanced Study, Lakkar Bazar, Jakhu Temple.

At the distance of 5 minutes from Wood Vista Cottages we have a beautiful pond area named as Jabbad. The place has a beautiful landscape with a small pond and the whole area is covered by pine and cedar trees.
The place offers a very quiet environment for peace lovers. People can spend their time near the pond area by reading books, meditation, playing outdoor sports.
